Please be aware that there is a COVID-19 tax scam hitting cell phones in the US. Affected people have been receiving text messages stating:
“You have received a direct deposit of $1,200 from COVID-19 TREAS FUND. Further action is required to accept this payment into your account. Continue here to accept this payment …”

Please do not click on any link that is texted or emailed to you with language like the above quote and please let the IRS know by emailing phishing@irs.gov the following details:
- Date & Time of text message
- Caller ID phone number
- Your phone number
If you have not received an economic impact payment please reach out to us or go to IRS.gov to file for your EIP if you are not required to file a tax return.
